How stars and chapter unlocks work

Par and gold times decide your stars. Twenty of a chapter’s thirty stars, plus every level finished, open the next chapter.

Every level in SkyRoll: Edge gives you one to three stars. The stars you collect decide when the next chapter opens. Here are the rules of the current development build.

Par and gold

Each level has two target times. Finish at or under the gold time for three stars, at or under the par time for two stars, and any other finish is one star. A finished level is always worth at least one star.

Thirty stars per chapter

A chapter has ten levels, so it offers up to 30 stars. That is the same for every chapter of the current build.

How the next chapter opens

To open a chapter you need two things in the chapter before it: every level finished and at least 20 of its 30 stars. Chapter 1 is open from the start. Purchases have no effect on unlocking, and a chapter that is unlocked stays unlocked.

For example, two stars on every level of a chapter adds up to exactly 20, and three-star finishes on some levels can make up for one-star finishes on others.

Inside an open chapter, the first level is open and each next level opens after the one before it is finished.
